About us
In about 2010, my wonderful partner, Sue. Asked, "what would you really like to do". My answer I thought was rather strange. I would like to have a go at making kiln fired glass jewellery. Don't know where I had come up with the idea but I suppose being a chemist it's not much of a leap to being a glass Alchemist.
Whats stopping you? I don't have a kiln and they are a fortune.... Well, three days later after a quick wanted add on the freecycle pages I was fully kitted out with a very old enamel kiln and lots of glass and tools to get me going.
Well, that feels like a life time ago, I have now passed this on to someone else and have invested in a new kiln
My life before this.
I was born in the Midlands and lived around the UK, until settling in beautiful North Yorkshire in 1998, mid way between the Dales and Moors.
In my art work, I am influenced by the seasons and the changing colours of the countryside, which gives some stunning results.
The glass is fired at a variety of temperatures so that fusing occurs. The results are stunning. I intended to keep this as a hobby, but the resulting sales and great feedback led me to reduce my work and devote more energy into kiln fired jewellery.
I am still learning on a daily basis, and often surprised when happy accidents occur. The results of the magic that takes place, speaks for itself. I hope you enjoy my website and jewellery as much as I do crafting it. Each piece is unique and a piece of art in itself.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us using the feedback form, we'll be happy to hear from you.
Kind regards,
Steve Smith - Artist and Glass Art Jewellery designer/Maker
